Google Chrome 6.0.458.1 has been released in dev channel.

Latest dev channel build for world’s fastest browser has been released for Windows , Linux and Mac OS platforms. with several bug fixes. note that this is a developers channel release hence chrome can be unstable at times. I shall wait for the beta at least.

Issues fixed in Google Chrome 6.0.458.1 dev:

· The InfoBar is no longer shown when the user first submits a form;
· AutoFill now continuously updates profile data when the user submits new forms. Profile data is now aggregated and the AutoFill InfoBar has been removed, in order to achieve this;
· When editing a field in a previously auto-filled form, Chrome now only displays unique suggestions;
· Enabling sync no longer freezes Chromium;
· Chrome now starts if other FFmpeg DLLs are present on the system - Windows specific.

Install Google chrome.

Mozilla Firefox 4.0 beta is available to download.

Firefox 4 is perhaps the most eagerly awaited version of Firefox till date. which is scheduled to release around the end of this year with impressive UI and performance enhancements including mozilla’s new revamped Javascript engine. beta releases are available to download in mozilla’s directory of nightly builds for Windows , linux and OS X in both x86 and x64 systems.

(The new tabs-on-top  UI is not available for linux yet)

Rumor  has it that  Firefox 4.0 Beta is very much faster compared to the latest stable release and It is around 30% faster than Firefox 3.6.6. However, this is still not even nearly as fast as browsers like Opera and Google Chrome and also  that Firefox 4.0 has a much faster JavaScript engine than Firefox 3.6.6.

It completely outshines Firefox 3.6.6 in every way but memory consumption. As this is only a beta, I expect this to get fixed. The new tab on top interface is still not available in Linux yet, but hope that it will be available before long.

Swiftfox - optimized browser for different Intel and AMD processors

Swiftfox

Swiftfox is  based on  Firefox. It is available for GNU/Linux platforms and distributed by Jason Halme. Swiftfox is a set of builds of Firefox optimized for different Intel and AMD microprocessors. It is freely downloadable with open source code and proprietary binaries. Firefox extensions and plugins are compatible with Swiftfox, with notable exceptions. The name Swiftfox comes from the animal Swift Fox. Swiftfox differs from Firefox by a limited number of changes, and builds for different processors.

Swiftfox

There is now an installer available that is distro independent. It is a script that downloads and installs Swiftfox in the /opt directory and attempts to use existing Firefox plugins. The installer is probably the best way for most users to install Swiftfox. If your distro is Debian based you will want to install using the deb files as the apt repository will provide automatic updating. More info is available at the deb file page.

Opera 10.60 Beta powered up with HTML5 and WebM

HTML5 and standards are quite the news one of these days. While Microsoft is desperately trying to catch up, others are determined to maintain their lead. Opera Software has released yet another snapshot build of Opera 10.60, which boosts the already excellent standard support offered by Opera

Features Added to this release.

Opera Dev team has also added sets of specific fonts to be used for CJK(Chinese-Japanese-Korean) web sites, which should improve readability. In addition to these new/improved features there are quite a few bug fixes for Linux/FreeBSD. Mac users will notice that plug-ins will generally perform better too.

Chrome 6.0.412.0 with New HTML5

Google has made available for download a new release of its open source browser designed to support what is being advertised as the future of video on the Internet, namely the WebM media format. Version 6.0.412.0 of Chrome is already offered to early adopters, but, in all fairness, the release is actually Chromium, the underlining open source project at the base of Google Chrome. Users should be aware of the fact that Build 6.0.412.0 of Chromium is nothing more than a nightly build, certainly not intended for use in production environments, but only for testing.

Chromium 6.0.412.0 is available for download here.

Mozilla Previews New Firefox Add-Ons Manager

The Mozilla team is hard at work on the next update to Firefox, which will include a fully redesigned Add-ons Manager.
Previously, the Add-ons Manager operated in its own separate window apart from the rest of the browser. The new Add-ons Manager opens in a new tab and uses JavaScript and a sidebar to display extensions, themes, plugins and other add-on goodies.
Search engines have also been added to the new Add-ons Manager, which essentially means that all of your Firefox (Firefox) extras will finally be accessible and manageable from one place

If you want to get a look at what the new new Add-ons Manager looks like now, you can download the latest nightly build of Firefox 3.7.

191640-capture_350.png

Microsoft has released a "platform preview" of Internet Explorer 9. This isn't an IE9 beta, mind you; it doesn't have the features you'd expect in a browser. It doesn't even have an address bar for that matter. Instead, the IE9 Platform Preview serves as a sneak peek at some of the new Web technologies and standards that Microsoft is working on building into its flagship browser.read more…but apparently XP users are out of luck for IE9 Platform said to be required extensive GPU powered graphics ..  read more
